I will be touring Tokyo,  mostly site seeing and writing .  There is a budding  poetry scene there.  I hope to visit one of the following venues (exceprts from Metropolis.com):

What the Dickens features an open mic event the first Sunday of every month.  Poetry makes up the bulk of the open mics but there are also more avant – garde performances that often have musical accompaniment.

Ben’s Cafe offers a different approach to the open mic. It’s a fairly small place and can get pretty packed during readings, which are held the third and fourth Sunday of every month. The small space makes it that much more intimate. 

The spoken word community of Tokyo is supportive and always eager to hear new voices as well as old ones. The poetry scene is very much alive and kicking – and who knows what the future will bring?
